Black Finit Art
Seni Seni Banyak
Gerson started to learn more about the world of art in Yogyakarta, 2002, which he also studied in the streets. “Several batik artists became inspiration at the beginning of my career as a painter”. Affandi is one of these Yogyakarta painters and became an influencer for Gerson. Bright colors, figures of humans and animals are characters that are often shown to convey implicit meanings in his art.
“It’s not uncommon to meet people who see and compare my works with painters such as Basquiat, Picasso or Mirro. From there I started to feel confident, which for those around me is still a strange thing”.
Many experiments have been carried out to strengthen the character of the work. Over the past 4 years, in the gallery -Seni Seni Banyak- where I also residence. I have discovered several techniques and media used. Injuring the wall with nails or a knife to the paper media, paint oil, acrylic, pastel, pencile, charcoal on the wall media and wood to glass.
Primitive symbols that combine points and lines in the end to form an abstract character that at first might not have been thought of. The resulting shapes and forms at first glance can look childish.
“Mencermati segala sesuatu yang terjadi di sekitar sebagai inspirasi bagi kehidupan pribadi maupun sosial.”
